THEY whizz round town at top speed with scant regard for pedestrians and are a silent menace and danger to everyone doing their shopping.
Teenagers on their cycles you might think, yobs on their BMX's?
No, I'm talking about the sudden explosion of people in their mobility scooters.
Have large numbers of Swindonians suddenly lost the use of their limbs simultaneously? Is there a secret club you can join?
I was in town with my son on his 18th birthday recently and one of these impatient scooter drivers couldn't be bothered to go round him and instead decided to go through him.
His brand new trainers were ripped and scuffed and the backs of his legs were bruised as this electric-powered idiot muttered a grudging "sorry" and trundled off at top speed without a backward glance.
A minute later, as we met my son's friend outside Bhs, we were forced to move out of the way for an enormous man in another scooter who must have been doing 8-12 mph.
If these incidents involved young people on bikes, or on those go-ped type scooters, there would be an outcry.
These vehicles are heavy enough to do serious injury if they hit a toddler, especially when driven at high speed.
I understand they are vital for some people but please, when in town, slow down!
