77532-28SWINDON CANCER APPEAL: NOT even the rain can stop our cancer appeal blossoming. Scores braved the dismal weather on Saturday to buy colourful bedding plants at North Star College.
All proceeds will go to the Adver-backed Swindon Cancer Appeal, which is going from strength to strength.
Graziella Campisano, who is co-ordinating the appeal, said she was delighted by the turn-out.
"The plants were flying off the shelves," she said. "It was fantastic. We were running around trying to re-stock the shelves.
"You are always worried that the weather will spoil events but that didn't happen."
The plant sale was held by Phil Osman from Gorse Hill, Swindon, who designed a garden that featured at the Malvern Spring Gardening show last week.
Instead of selling the plant to visitors at the end of the show he decided to help the Swindon Cancer Appeal by holding the sale.
