Brandon StylesBRAVE Brandon Styles and his family have returned home after a dream trip to Majorca.
The youngster was one of only six children across the UK chosen to rub shoulders with celebrities such as Claire Sweeney, Jack Ryder and Kym Marsh because of his incredible courage in dealing with an illness.
Brandon, of Pearl Road, Middleleaze, was born with a life-threatening metabolic disorder which only affects 28 other people in the country.
Because he is missing an enzyme from his liver he is unable to breakdown ammonia and has to take medication every six hours.
During the trip to the holiday hotspot, the five-year-old, his mum, Nicki, 31, sister Krystal, six, and brother Bradley, seven, were treated like VIPs.
The Great Ormond Street Hospital, which has treated Brandon, selected the family to go on the trip to celebrate the launch of the Pirates Adventure a show in aid of its children's charity.
"We had a really, really good time. Brandon was spoiled rotten," said Mrs Styles.
"He was picked up, cuddled all the time and made to feel really special.
"The pirate show was fantastic. There were acrobatics, can-can girls and people hanging from the ceiling which all followed a storyline. We saw some of the celebrities.
"But they helped raise lots of money for the hospital during an auction."
As well as the performance, the family enjoyed a game of crazy golf with the stars of the show, a day out at a water park and relaxed by the pool.
"It was a holiday of a lifetime really and we're all really exhausted," said Mrs Styles.
Doctors have described Brandon as "living on a knife-edge" because one minute he can be fine and the next he can be on the verge of slipping into a coma.
Diagnosed with the condition when eight hours old, he spent the first two weeks of his life in intensive care.
Pirates Adventure is an entertainment show with a blend of West End show, pantomime and circus. It is themed around the antics of a group of infamous pirates.
Mrs Styles is doing a walk along the Great Wall of China in October to raise money for the hospital. To sponsor her phone 07949 997188.
