I WRITE to say I have thoroughly enjoyed reading about the range of artists coming to Swindon for this year's Festival of Literature in the paper.

I attended just one event, the evening with Alistair McGowan at the Arts Centre. He was on stage with Shirley Ludford. What a great evening it was. They were an excellent combination, well done to the organisers for setting it up. It is fascinating to get to hear a celebrity speak from the heart and to get a chance to see a little of the man behind the television personality.

The evening was exactly as advertised, a conversation which I am sure everyone present felt included in. I certainly did.
