Pupils at Westrop Primary School, in Highworth, will be taking part in a school science week until Friday.
And the project started on a high as the children let 200 helium balloons fly.
Science is one of three core subjects, along with English and Maths, which is taught at the school.
Headteacher Janet Urbam thinks it is important to inject fun into education.
She said: "We hold the science week every year.
"I think it is a good way to learn because all of the activities are practical.
"The children get very much involved and really enjoy it as well as learning.
"The activities bring meaning to learning."
One of the highlights of the week will be when the children get the chance to make their own flying machine. There will also be a birds of prey flying display and kite flying.
