Bookstart Bear Picture Ref: 77563-34THE Children's Information Service was transformed into a craft centre to encourage more children to read.
Parents of toddlers and young children were invited to the fun Bookstart Bear morning at the council service in Theatre Square, Swindon.
Robin Griffiths, a librarian at the North Swindon Library, organised the event.
Mr Griffiths wanted to show parents and toddlers the benefits of the Bookstart programme, which aims to get children interested in books from an early age.
There were plenty of activities arranged to keep the children entertained including crafts, singing and a teddy bears' picnic, presided over by the Bookstart Bear.
The bear also presented all the children there with free reading packs.
The packs include free multi-lingual books for toddlers and information for parents about how and what to read to their children to boost their enthusiasm for stories.
