A SPECIAL planning meeting will be held to discuss the future restoration of Lydiard Park.
Councillors were due to discuss the £5.3m restoration plans at last night's meeting.
But they put off the decision until next week to give themselves time to study the proposals in detail.
The plans, which are put forward by Swindon Council itself, include the restoration of the park's lost lake and repairs to listed structures.
Also included in the proposals are a new play area and the conversion of a stable block in the grounds into toilets, an education room and offices.
The proposals form part of the Lydiard Park Project, which aims to restore Lydiard's historic landscape and upgrade visitor amenities on the 260-acre site.
The Heritage Lottery Fund should let the council know in the summer if its £3.1million bid to help fund the project has been successful.
The special meeting of the planning committee will start at 4pm on Friday, June 3, at the Civic Offices, Euclid Street.
