GAZETTE & HERALD: TWO schoolboys have been expelled from Sheldon School, Chippenham, after smoking cannabis during a lunch break on Tuesday last week.
The boys, aged 14, were sent home straight after the incident, which took place in a field behind the school in Hardenhuish Lane.
The pupils, who have not been named, left the school grounds at lunchtime but on their return felt unwell and began acting strangely.
Quick-thinking teachers noticed their behaviour and they never made it to class.
The parents of both boys were called into school and a full investigation was launched.
It was reported to police the following day, and a statement said drugs taking would not be tolerated.
Headteacher Gerard MacMahonsaid the school had a strict policy regarding drugs and did not hesitate to permanently exclude them.
He said he believed the fact that there hadn't been an incident involving drugs at the school for many years to be a reflection of the hard line it took.
