16212/8GAZETTE & HERALD: YEAR two pupils from St Patrick's School in Corsham got all fired up on a class visit on Friday.
Twenty-two youngsters aged six and seven went to see how a modern fire station works in Corsham.
Class teacher Lisa Kirby said the students are studying the Great Fire of London as their history topic this term.
"They have looked at how this fire was tackled, and compared methods to the equipment available to the firefighting services today.
The fire brigade also took the opportunity to promote the community safety message to the young pupils.
Miss Kirby said: "The children learnt lots about safety at home and the firefighter's job, not just fighting fires, but also the rescues they have to carry out as well.
"They were able to use a water hose which they thought was absolutely fantastic.
"It was an overall great experience for them."
Miss Kirby said she would like to take the children to the fire station again in the future.
