HIGHWORTH Junior Football Club drew the 2004-05 season to a close with the annual presentation evening held at the Rec.
Presenting the trophies was Highworth old boy, Swindon Town goalkeeper Rhys Evans.
He presented trophies to all age groups including the newly formed under 6s, and the girls' teams at ages under 10, 12 and 14.
And it was a bittersweet night for the under 16 team who finished their final season of junior football.
The highlight of the season was winning the cup semi-final against league champions Purton on penalties when players' player of the season Luke Adams put Highworth through with a magnificent penalty shoot out save.
Unfortunately Highworth narrowly lost the final 2-1 after extra time to Malmesbury.
Parents' player of the season was right-back Joey Taylour.
In addition, ten of the squad received trophies for achieving 100 or more appearances for Highworth. These were: Cameron Holloway, Joey Taylour, Lorien Bardwell and Luke Adams, all 100; Alex Parker, Ben Cowley, Ben Tollington, Ryan King, Stephen Ware, all 150; and Daniel Whitaker, 150.
Club chairman Bernard Berry said: "It was a very enjoyable season and it was smashing that Rhys could do the honours for us.
"Highworth has a wonderful new pavilion thanks to local charities and Sport England, and we have more teams for next season than we ever had before.''
