Hinton ParvaA 17-YEAR-OLD girl was killed in a car crash on a dangerous country road, police said today.
The girl from Swindon, who has not yet been named, was driving a blue Renault Clio on the road between Hinton Parva, pictured, and Bishopstone when the crash happened just after 7pm yesterday. The other car involved, a Vauxhall Astra estate, was driven by a 45-year-old Swindon man travelling from Bishopstone towards Hinton Parva.
The girl was treated at the scene before being taken by ambulance to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon where she later died from her injuries.
The man was also taken to GWH with whiplash, wrist injuries and chest pain.Both drivers were alone in their cars.
Robert Clark, chairman of Bishopstone and Hinton Parva Parish Council, said the junction coming out of Hinton Parva towards Bishopstone was hazardous.
"It is a very dangerous corner," he said. "We fought for 20 years to have the speed limit reduced."
In 2003 the speed limit through the village was reduced from 60mph to 30mph.
