I WANT to be clear that I support the principle behind the necessity to have identification cards.
So what is this Government's reason for ID cards?
We all carry cards, library cards, works ID passes, passports and driving licences.
How many cards do they expect to be lost or stolen each year?
If it costs £80 each, then initially some 500 million pounds will be forked out by people in this country, am I right in this assertion?
How much will it cost to continue running the service? I believe it will be some 200 million pounds a year?
Who will have the right to ask for them and check them?
The Government assures us ID cards are for security, I think Hitler said something like, "It is easy to take away the freedoms from people, just tell them they will be more secure".
In Blair's England I worry more about going into hospital, for a minor operation than I do about a threat from Al Qaeda.
