Exposure of the activities of ambulance chasers at the A and E Department comes as no surprise.
No win, no fee claims chasers have been advertising on some radio
channels for unqualified assistants to drum up
business for commission.
Not only are greedy lawyers taking about 60 per cent out of the claims pot, but the promised dream of quick and cheap justice has not happened.
Even though the client may gain no more cash, the lawyer's fee is increased from 25 per cent to 100 per cent on or after the first day of trial.
Many such claims were proved a few years ago to have been faked. It should also be far more difficult to assume professional negligence where there is wrong diagnosis.
Doctors should be freed from the fear that every patient has a team of aggressive lawyers in tow.
