May I add my support to the two correspondents bold enough to censure the heartless action taken by both the council and the law courts in the eviction of 79-year-old Mr Pardue and the fine imposed on his friend (letters, May 19).
This to me shows no concern for the elderly. In fact it is leaning towards totalitarianism, in particular when other people can move into an area, buy a field and just start a community without local planning laws being adhered to.
Those given responsible authority should remember their early childhood religious instruction: "Do unto others as you would have done to yourself".
