GAZETTE & HERALD: FOUR workmates from Morrison's in Chippenham are gearing up to take part in next month's Race for Life in memory of a colleague who died from cancer.
Pam Wickham, who was in her 60s and worked on the deli and meat counters at the store, passed away two weeks ago after a courageous battle with cancer.
Inspired by her bravery, her friends and colleagues Sue Kelly, Debbie Sanderson, Jacquie Ratcliffe and Michelle Hunt decided to put their best feet forward and take part in the 5km race at Lydiard Park in Swindon.
"She was a popular member of staff and a really nice lady," said Miss Hunt. "She got on with everyone and we all loved her. We'll miss her a lot."
The pals have already raised more than £700 in sponsorship but hope to get a lot more as the June 4 race draws closer.
"It's something very close to our hearts and we're all looking forward to it," said Miss Hunt. "Debbie's injured her foot but she said she's still going to take part even if she's on crutches.
"It's so important to make people aware of cancer because it's getting more and more common these days."
Sponsorship forms are available in store.
