THE first gliding open day in Wiltshire is being held on Sunday. The Bath, Wilts and North Dorset Gliding Club is hoping for a big turnout at its airfield at Kingston Deverill, between Mere and Warminster.
Visitors can sample flights in two-seater training gliders on a first come, first served basis and get the feel of gliding in a full sized simulator. There will also be a static display of gliders, videos and information, from 9.30am. Organiser Mark Hawkins said: "We're hoping that many of those people who have wanted to know more about gliding and have never quite got round to trying will take this great opportunity to visit us on the day."
The club is seeking new members. It has its own dedicated gliding airfield and a fleet of two-seat training gliders and single seaters. Details and a map can be found at www.bwnd.co.uk
