Leading Indian music star Vikku has given his seal of approval to the Turn on the Dreams album released by Trowbridge doctor and musician Joel Almeida to raise funds for the area devastated by the Asian tsunami.
Vikku said: "Turn on the Dreams sounds unique, combining Celtic and South Indian music for the first time."
Dr Almeida, of Wingfield Road, pictured right, went to the devastated Tamil Nadu area in Indian in the aftermath of the disaster to help set up a health surveillance system.
Nearly a third of the population, about 6,000 people, died in that region alone and Dr Almeida, who is originally from southern India, pledged to spend a year raising funds to help survivors.
The CD, by Dr Almeida's band Dr JSM, features musicians from India's top rhythm academy, the Sri JGTV School.
Dr Almeida said: "We wanted this CD to offer listeners something slightly different. Something soothing yet energising, perfect for the end of a hard day.
"It features beautiful instruments such as bamboo flute and clay pot, with soulful singing and stunning hand percussion."
The Sri JGTV narrowly missed being hit by the tsunami and its young musicians will be joining the doctor on a UK tour in the autumn, doing concerts and workshops to raise funds for long-term rebuilding projects.
All the royalties from the CD will go to the South Indian Federation of Fishermen Societies relief fund.
It is being distributed by Discovery Records and can be ordered through most record shops.
