Hillsborough Day Nursery in Bishopstone opened in May 1995 and looks after 20 to 30 children every day.
Children and their parents were invited to a teddy bears party.
Joining them were youngsters who were at the nursery when it first opened its doors.
Nursery manager Emma Venghaus said: "It really gave the parents opportunity to see to the children playing and the work we do. The children were excited all day, right up to when they left.
"It was wonderful to see so many children from over the years, looking much more grown up, working in the nursery with them you become close to the youngsters."
The youngsters enjoyed party food with cakes and jelly. The event, on Wednesday, is a precursor to a bigger one in the summer.
