I HAVE noticed the few letters from Swindon's pseudo-intellectuals telling us all how wonderful and how badly needed the proposed new University of Bath is.
I have lived in Swindon all my life. We have never had a university, we have never missed not having a university and I'm sure I speak for the majority of Swindonians in saying we don't need it now, especially as it would ruin Coate Water Country Park, a place of beauty, that has given pleasure to thousands over the years.
What's the matter with this council? They appear to be gutless. Instead of being bullied by Bath tell them no, if they want to build a new university here, then it will be on a site that the people of Swindon want, not one of its choosing.
Come on Mike Bawden.Let's have a bit of strong leadership.
Or is it because the council still dreams of Swindon City, another fiasco, that nobody wants?
Luckily the chances of this happening are as great as me finding Lord Lucan up my chimney.
