CHIPPENHAM Rugby Club celebrated another successful season of rugby on Friday night when their annual dinner and presentation Evening was held at their ALlington Field clubhouse.
More than 260 club members, their guests and invited guests sat down to a three course meal and then joined together to reflect and celebrate their season's successes.
This year the club broke with tradition and members of the Ladies team were also present. Presentations were also made to the Ladies team during the evening and Tracey Roberts announced the retirement of one of the team's most prolific try scorers Harriet Crockett.
The guest speaker was former Bath, England and British Lions player Nigel Redman.
Chairman Ian Lyons praised the efforts of the whole club. Not just the playing sections, but the backroom staff, coaches and included all those members who gave up their time to help with the running, maintenance and upkeep of the clubhouse and the premises.
Club Captain Rupert Crockett underlined the achievement in gaining promotion to South West One for next season.
The following awards were presented: ladies player of the year, Letitia Delaney; player of the year, Nick Doyle; second team player of the year, Dan Reynolds; third team player of the year, Ben Chamberlain; most improved player, Ben Shuker; clubman of the year, Ray Lewis (chairman of the minis); Bill Norman Trophy, Ryan Surry (young clubman of the year).
n FORMER England hooker-turned BBC commentator Brian Moore presented the awards at Swindon RFC's annual dinner at Wanborough.
Moore handed the first team's players' player of the year accolade to fly-half Neil Maycock.
Player of the year was flanker and incoming vice-captain Jon Parker, whose outstanding form helped Swindon to the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Premier Division title.
Most improved player was first team prop Danny Webb, who fought his way back to his best after an illness which saw him out for more than two years.
