Sales of Honda's integrated petrol electric cars have rocketed past the 100,00 mark in just six years.
To date America has been the biggest market for Honda's clean air vehicles.
It has accounted for almost 90 per cent of Honda's global hybrid sales and confirming that the new petrol electric technology is becoming the mainstream in new car production.
The new Insight, Civic and Accord special models sold a total of 27,000 in the USA alone.
But Britain has become an important secondary market and half of these vehicles sold in Europe are actually sold in the UK.
A total of 2,000 have been sold in the last four years.
Sales of Honda's petrol electric models began in Britain with the launch of the Insight two seat coupe in September 2000.
This was followed by the Civic in May 2003.
