FOUR Swindon schools came together for a musical extravaganza at the Churchfields School.

Pupils from Hreod Parkway, St Joseph's, Lawn Primary and Churchfields took to the stage with performances ranging from choral singing to orchestral music in front of an audience of headteachers and music teachers.

The event was organised by the Lloyds TSB Note for Note team in Swindon to highlight to local teachers the benefits of getting involved with the campaign.

Note for Note is the first programme of its kind in Britain and is backed by leading players in the music industry and endorsed by the Government.

It aims to inspire creativity and stimulate more interest in music among the nation's young people by introducing them to music subsidised by the scheme.

Sara Lilly, Lloyds TSB local director, said: "We are encouraging all the schools in the Swindon area to sign up for Note for Note and we hope that last night's entertainment will prove just how inspirational and enjoyable school music can be."

Russell Langdown, acting director of performing and visual arts at Churchfields School, said: "We welcome the opportunity provided by Lloyds TSB to develop learning through the arts by raising additional funds to be spent on developing music resources in schools.

"We are delighted to provide the opportunity for Swindon schools to join together in this way."
