I AM a senior citizen who has lived in Penhill for many years. Unfortunately, I now find I cannot do all the things I want to, one of which was pulling up the spindly weeds that had appeared among my ground-covering stones in the front garden.
I approached the 2nd Penhill Scout Group who readily agreed to give me a hand. On May 17, at approximately 6.40pm, the Cub pack and leaders knocked on my door, all ready to start work.
They set to and by 7.20pm had cleared the stones and front path of weeds. An excellent job had been done, carried out with much enthusiasm and goodwill.
Before they left I gave each Cub a treat, with the permission of their leaders, and gave one of the leaders a donation.
I would like to say a very big thank you to the Scout group for their kindness and to point out that Penhill is certainly not a bad place to live
