WILTSHIRE quickie Kevin Nash made an explosive start on the first day of the county's opening Minor Counties Western Division encounter against Oxfordshire at Banbury yesterday.

Bowling the second over of the day, the paceman was on a hat-trick after his first two deliveries.

The Bashley player first clean bowled Keith Mustow and then despatched Craig Haupt with his very next delivery.

It was not to be, though, and he failed to take another wicket on the way to figures of 2-34.

The star of the show for Wiltshire was Beckenham quickie Richard Bedbrook.

The former Devizes man collected 5-89 as Oxfordshire were dismissed for 250.

It could have been a lot less for the home side had it not been for Adam Cook. Batting at seven in the order, Cook fell one short of a century but did more than his bit to help Oxfordshire post a respectable first innings total.

At the close, Wiltshire were 104-4, with opener Eddie Abel 29 not out and Baqar Rizvi having hit 45.
