THE case of a couple charged with keeping a Swindon brothel has been adjourned until the end of June.

Andrew Kyte, 39, and Donna Powell, 38, of St Clements Road, near Bristol face charges concerning two brothels.

One was at 35A Rolleston Street and the other alleged brothel is in Balham Road, Bristol.

The couple appeared before Bristol Magistrates' Court for a committal hearing, but this was adjourned until June 28 because the paperwork was not ready.

Powell is charged with two counts of controlling a prostitute in Bristol and Swindon and two counts of keeping a brothel.

Kyte is charged with living wholly or partly off the earnings of prostitution and two counts of keeping a brothel in Bristol and Swindon.

The two were given conditional bail to return for the committal date on the condition that they do not initiate contact directly or indirectly with any witnesses to do with the case.

Police from Bristol raided an address in Rolleston Street last December but not before getting the wrong address first. At the time the Adver reported how the officers smashed their way into 61-year-old Ken Wooley's house on the same street before realising their mistake.

A spokeswoman for the Avon and Somerset Police apologised for the error, saying that the blunder had been due to incorrect intelligence they had received.
