A NEW play area for under eights has been opened at Keynes Country Park.
Re-landscaping at the site has involved removing 2,500 tons of soil, creating a family picnic area and viewing point.
Wheelchair-friendly surfaces has made the whole site more accessible to children with disabilities.
The work attracted funding from Swindon-based motor dealers Pebley Beach and the Gloucestershire Environmental Trust Company.
Tim Pain, chief executive of Cotswold Water Park Society, said: "More than 200,000 people visited Keynes Country Park last year, many of them families with children under eight.
"As a thriving visitor attraction, it was vital we improved the play area which was first established 20 years ago.
"Equipment had become worn out, and we hope the improvements we have made will provide heaps of fun for an even greater number of children.
"The play area, with its unique waterside and beach location with wildlife nearby, offers a play experience for small children that is different from any other attraction in the region."
Mike Brunsdon, co-owner of corporate sponsors Pebley Beach Suzuki, said: "Keynes Country Park is a great facility for the whole area, and we were delighted to help with the improvements to the children's play area."
