GLOUCESTERSHIRE and England cricketer Jack Russell has been revealed as the guest star at a newly-revived festival.
Russell, who now combines cricket commentating with his work as an artist, will be the guest of honour at a special VIP event on the eve of the Wootton Bassett Music and Arts Festival.
Organisers of the festival are looking for sponsors for the event.
Town councillor Kerrie Dixon said: "Any member of the public who sponsors by donating a certain amount will have their name in the programme and a chance to meet Jack Russell.
"Business sponsors will have their names on our website and flyers, as well as in the programme."
She is delighted that the former England wicketkeeper will be coming to the festival, which is being revived after a break of 22 years.
The competitive festival includes categories for singers, instrumental musicians and artists, and each category has five different age groups.
She said: "It's nice to see a local celebrity supporting a local event.
"I approached him and asked if he would like to help out, and fortunately he said yes."
The deadline for accepting entries for the festival has been moved back to Thursday June 30.
Anyone wanting to sponsor the festival, which takes place on July 22 and 23, should telephone 01793 850986.
