Alice Parker with some of the tiles Picture Ref: 77691-59TERRIFYING gargoyles were created by youngsters at Swindon Museum and Art Gallery.
The five to 11-year-olds learnt about medieval tiles before having a go at making their own at the Terrific Tiles half-term workshop. They rolled out clay to make into tiles then added more clay to create gargoyle faces.
"They all seemed to really enjoy it," said Sarah Flinders, who ran the workshop.
"They all went home happily clutching their tiles. Some of them had come with their own ideas and some looked at the resources I had brought to design their tiles.
"A lot of schools have stopped using clay so it was nice for them to be able to do that."
The museum is also running a half-term trail. Youngsters can call in to take part in the 'Potty about Pots' trail to find pieces of pottery around the museum. The activity costs £1 per child and includes a small prize.
