A WOMAN smashed a car windscreen after a relationship turned sour, a court heard.

Kelly-Marie Hyde, 24 of Bow Court, Old Town, Swindon appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court accused of smashing a car windscreen on May 28 and breaking bail conditions.

The vehicle belonged to her former partner Augustus Walter.

She was arrested by police and released on bail with the condition that she did not go near Mr Walter.

But the next day she smashed the same car windscreen and called police to admit what she had done. She even made arrangements for them to come and pick her up.

Tony Novogrodski, defending, said his client had been in long-term depression and was considered to be vulnerable, having suffered abuse several times during her childhood.

He said: "She is of good character and she has learnt her lesson."

Hyde was given a conditional discharge and told to pay compensation of £250, along with costs of £50.
