SWINDON'S problem with residents' parking will be discussed tonight.
The cost of a household's second permit in some areas (zones A, D, E, F, G and L) could rise to £150 before being completely withdrawn in four years under the plans being considered by Swindon Council's cabinet.
In other areas (zones B, C, H, J, K and N) the second permit per household will remain but the third permit will rise to £150 before being withdrawn in three years.
A range of other changes, including allowing town centre residents to buy a permit for town centre car parks, are estimated to cost £180,000 to introduce but will bring in extra money for the council over time.
Two extra parking attendants will be recruited for two-and-a-half-years, at a cost of £52,000 per year, which includes training, uniform and other costs plus salaries.
The meeting to discuss the proposals starts at 6pm tonight at the Civic Offices, Euclid Street.
