GAZETTE & HERALD: GHOST hunters who spent a night in Corsham Tourist Information and Heritage Centre have found no evidence of ghostly apparitions.
Nevertheless the group of nine investigators have not ruled out the possibility that the premises may be haunted.
Members of the Swindon-based Paranormal Site Investigators group stayed in the building from 4pm on Saturday to 3am the following day after hearing that it was haunted.
They took along monitors and conducted two sances in an effort to find evidence of haunting, but so far footage gained from the evening has shown no evidence of ghosts and ghouls.
But undaunted, joint leader Nicky Sewell, 23 said that the group's activities revealed fragments of history.
She said: "None of the monitors picked up anything specific verifying haunting but that doesn't mean it isn't haunted it just means we didn't find anything that evening."
She said that the medium had a strong feeling about nuns and religion and it had since transpired that the garden of the information centre could have been a walk-through to a priory.
The medium had also made references to the Boer War and, after the experiment, Miss Sewell had found out that soldiers had marched through Corsham on the way to South Africa in the 1800s.
"It's all compelling," she said.
The investigators say they used a range of environmental, photographic and spiritual techniques within a scientific method to attempt to monitor and record the paranormal.
The group, which was set up last August, had the first sance at 10pm.
Miss Sewell said: "We started with a sance to ground people and focus them and see if we could pick up many voices while it was quiet."
She said it was a relaxed, natural environment and would hopefully encourage any spiritual presences to contact them.
They eventually closed the evening at 3am with a final sance when nothing much was happening.
They are now dissecting the footage and possibly planning a return to the building in the future.
