GAZETTE & HERALD: AN AUSTRALIAN couple's dream to marry in an English church came true when they tied the knot in Corsham two weeks ago.
James Eagleson, 62, had spent a year in the UK 30 years ago and since then had always wanted to marry in an English church.
On his engagement to 60-year-old Judith Walters in December the pair asked long-time pals and Corsham residents Ted and Sheila Davies for their help.
Mr Davies, of Station Road said: "They had originally intended to come over on the trip this year as a holiday but James decided he wanted more than that."
Mr and Mrs Davies found out the procedures required for the marriage of foreign nationals here and helped in making the arrangements.
The couple had a civil ceremony in Chippenham, which was followed by a blessing of the marriage by the Rev Canon Roger Clifton at St Bartholomew's.
Mr Davies said: "It was all they wanted. It fulfilled all their expectations. Things could not have gone better for them and they were very happy with everything they saw and did. Everything was perfect."
