FORMER Tory MP Neil Hamilton has backed his good friend Derek Laud in his effort to win the public over on the celebrity show Big Brother and achieve his ambitions to become an actor.

Mr Hamilton, of Bradfield Manor, Hullavington, believes his fellow Tory friend 40-year-old Mr Laud, who was the first and only black Master of Foxhounds, can be a successful actor.

Mr Hamilton said: "I have known Derek for more than 20 years and he has been one of our closest friends."

Mr Hamilton said although his friend can seem haughty and difficult at first, deep down he really is great company.
