DEVIZES captain Andy Hodder said his side will need to bowl better to beat Trowbridge this Saturday.

His comments came after his side lost to Colwall by 18 runs in Saturday's mid-table clash.

Colwall won the toss and batted first, hitting 265 before Devizes stepped out to the crease looking at a run rate of 5.5 per over.

Mark Colyer top scored for Devizes with 52 but it was not enough as Hodder missed opening bowlers Brad Newman and Jon Couch through injury.

Hodder said: "We gave away too many runs. We did not bowl as tidily as we should have done and we were always struggling to chase their target.

"Once again the middle order batted well but we were always under pressure to score runs.

"They were a strong batting side and it was not that we dropped catches it was just we didn't bowl well enough.

"Tom Edwards has been getting some runs for Trowbridge so it is important we bowl well and stop him."

Devizes are currently mid-table in a tight league and Hodder puts that down to a series of strong batting performances.

"Our advantage is we have scored big runs in those game we have lost and we picked up maximum bonus points I could not ask for more in those regards."
