ENGLAND Schoolboys captain Yan Klukowski faces his entrance exams for the US universities this weekend still mulling over which side of the pond his future lies.

Klukowski, from Hill Rise in Chippenham, travels to Surrey to face the exams after being offered two four-year football scholarships in America.

The 18-year-old Sheldon School pupil has been offered places by Central Connecticut University, in New England, and Fairfield University, in Connecticut, but the Bath City midfielder is unsure what to do after attracting a host of attention from league clubs including Northampton Town and Reading.

"It is a tough decision but I have not received any formal offers from clubs yet," he said.

"The benefit of going to America is that I would still be young when I come out and I will have a degree as well.

"I have spoken to some of the English lads already on scholarships over there and they say it is a fantastic experience.

"The Americans want a decision by this week but any decision will have to wait until my exams finish at the end of this month."

Klukowski has enjoyed a memorable season having captained England on several occasions and helping Wiltshire U18s to the double.

Wiltshire coach, Mel Gingell, said it will be a tough decision for his protg.

"It would be a great experience over there and unless anything concrete comes in terms of an offer then I think he may go," said Gingell.

"I would like to have thought a professional club would have signed him and I cannot understand why one has not because as far as I am concerned he has absolutely everything you would want in a footballer.

"He's lucky because, if he goes, when he comes back he will still have lots of time on his side and if he stays over there he can still make a good living as a professional footballer."
