TEAMS from all over the South of England have been attracted to Chippenham Town Ladies inaugural six-a-side tournament this weekend.
Teams are travelling from Bath, Swindon, Bristol and London to attend the two-day event.
Around 40 teams are expected to take part with the U10s and U14s tournaments taking place on Saturday and U12s and ladies teams battling it out on Sunday.
Secretary Alan Edney said he was pleased so many teams were interested in the tournament.
He added: "Each year most of the established teams in the area host a tournament and we thought it was time we did.
"It gives all the ladies a chance of an extra game and a competitive tournament.
"Football is the fastest growing sport for women, so I have heard.
"It will be great for us to hold our first tournament."
Winners and runners up will receive a trophy and Edney said the home sides would be out to win their age groups.
He said: "The under 14s have had a great season winning their league so they will be looking to continue that form.
"The ladies came fourth in the South West Women's League which was quite good for the first season in the new league.
"It bodes well for a very good competitive tournament."
