Leanne White, who fell to her death from the Brunel West car park nearly two years agoNEARLY two years ago 29-year-old Leanne White, left, fell to her death from the Brunel West car park.

Mystery surrounds her fall as the inquest revealed that Leanne, who had suffered years of abuse at the hands of a paedophile, may not have intended to kill herself.

She died from multiple injuries in September, 2003, and moments before she fell, witnesses spotted her hugging safety railings.

Her husband, Gary, 38, a project leader at BMW-owned Swindon Pressings, told the inquest Leanne had been dreading the release from jail of her attacker, George Davison.

Davison, a trusted family friend, abused Leanne between the ages of 11 and 14. Her evidence helped cage the paedophile for 15 years in 1996, but in 2000 Leanne learned he could be eligible for parole in 2005.

Mr White believes this triggered a downward spiral fuelled by drinking sessions.

William Bache, the deputy coroner for Wiltshire and Swindon, said the events of that day could have been a plea for help which went tragically wrong.

He said: "I am far from satisfied Mrs White was looking to take her own life.

"There is evidence to suggest she was trying to retrieve the situation, even if she had initially intended to kill herself." He recorded a verdict of accidental death.
