THE Seend Fawlty Players have presented a cheque for £250 to Devizes PHAB Club after hearing how the buses they use to transport disabled people in the area were vandalised.
The Gazette highlighted the charity's plight in October last year when a spate of vandalism against PHAB's small fleet of specially adapted minibuses had cost them nearly £1,000 in the previous 12 months.
Fawlty Players chairman Peter Wallis handed over the money to PHAB's transport co-ordinator, Michael Braund, at a presentation at Seend Social Club last week.
The money came from the proceeds of the group's last pantomime, Sleeping Beauty, which raised £750 for good causes.
In addition to the cash presented to PHAB, £400 went to Dorothy House Hospice Care and £100 to Seend Primary School.
Tessa Doe, the group's public relations officer, said: "The organisations nearly had to make do with IOUs at the presentation, as the cheques spent the previous night in the glove compartment of the treasurer's car in Telford, and it was touch and go whether they would turn up in time."
