CHILDREN at St Katharine's School can hardly fail to take notice of the changing seasons because their place of learning is virtually surrounded by Savernake Forest.
So when visiting artist Rosie Smith from Marlow spent a day working with the pupils on Tuesday, May 24 it was appropriate that their subject was the four seasons.
Her visit was made possible by a grant from Family Learning and other local schools were invited along to St Katharine's to join in.
At the end of the day parents and older siblings were invited to join in.
As well as making their own drawings and sketches, the children were encouraged by the artist to help her make wall hangings that will go in the school's new classroom, the Oak Room. The artist showed the children how to make the shapes of leaves using polystyrene and then using the cut-outs print patterns on organza.
They made four wall-hangings, one for each season, that will be displayed on the walls in the Oak Room, said head Donni Blackwell.
