16245/5CHILDREN have a group of FROGS to thank for the new multi media library in their school. The group is the Friends of Ogbourne St George School, known as the FROGS.
They raised the money for the school to have a new dedicated library area complete with computers, to help them with multi media research.
The specialist children's library furniture bought by the FROGS came flat-packed and was put together by staff, led by headteacher Celia Hicks together with help from FROGS.
Mrs Hicks said: "The Friends raised a lot of money towards the library and they stripped out the area at the back of the hall.
"We did not really have a library before. We had what had become a bit of a dumping ground in a corner so it's nice to have a proper area."
Children's author Nicholas Allan was invited to officially open the new library and to talk to children about his books and to encourage them to write their own stories.
Mrs Hicks, who became head last September, said: "The whole school has taken on a new dimension and we have spent the last year making changes to take it forward."
Mrs Hicks said many of the changes would not have been possible without the funding and resourcefulness of the FROGS.
