THE EA Pledge card campaign is becoming an annoyance.
You had Melinda Messinger, Don Rogers and James Arkell in the newspaper bleating about Swindon.
How many of these actually live here?
Builder Gordon Moore stated Swindon is surrounded by countryside, which if he hadn't noticed is being eaten into by urban growth. Yes, people need houses to live in but let's face facts, too many historical buildings are being lost, urban growth has destroyed village life.
Blunsdon is almost a part of the Northern growth. Wroughton, Wanborough, Wootton Bassett, The Lydiards, where is it all going to end?
Swindon Council wants the accolade of city status.
Unfortunately people only live for today, tomorrow's generation will be left with a concrete hell hole. We should be greenier, environmentally friendly, instead they increase traffic with stupid road junctions such as the latest along Faringdon Road/Westcott Place.
The council sells its soul to any developer. I've lived here since 1970 and witnessed the demise of too many football pitches, allotments etc. Swindon Council wants city status at any cost and what do you think it will bring? Crime, pollution and countryside loss.
For goodness sake take a wider look at tomorrow's Swindon before it is too late.
Yes, Swindon was once a good place to live and still can be, only if serious action is taken.
