RECENTLY I was stopped by a stranger asking the way to Hillworth Park and Queens Road. I was not surprised.
The rusting, peeling signpost has for many years past carried the legend: "Que ns rad ,H ll pa k''.
I used to think this was to benefit Far East tourists, grappling with the complexities of the English language. But never having met in all these years any of them in the Potterne Road, I have to believe it is just sheer laziness on authorities' part.
And not only laziness. While signs for drivers are immaculate, if complex, this sign shows total contempt for pedestrians.
