CHIPPENHAM NEWS: A CARP fishery near Chippenham has been put up for sale at £300,000. Olivemead Lake is billed as being located in some of Wiltshire's most beautiful countryside.

Martin Freeman of Fenn Wright Fisheries 4Sale said: "It is very unusual for a fully developed carp fishery on the M4 corridor to come on the market."

The lake was created by the excavation of clay, which was used for the construction of the M4 in the 1970s.

Olivemead has a maximum depth of 26ft and extends over 2.5 acres.

The current owner had the lake netted to remove smaller fish, and it was restocked with about 130 carp. The largest caught to date weighed 32.5lbs.

There are other facilities on site including a wooden fishing hut.

The price also includes a smaller hut for catering, parking for 12 cars, a toilet block, storage shed and boat shelter.
