Classic company. Derby hopeful The Geezer is put through some last-minute work at home at Whitsbury under the watchful eye of Jeannie Brown. Staff picture by ROGER ELLIOTT. DA8065P01DAVID Elsworth heads to Epsom this week with a very real chance of finally nailing a Classic victory.
His two-pronged attack is led by Lupe Stakes victor Something Exciting in Friday's Oaks followed by Dante runner-up The Geezer who, on Saturday, bids to become the 225th winner of the Derby.
Both are in the form of their lives and in tip-top condition ahead of their date with destiny.
Elsworth, for all his years of success in the sport, has yet to triumph in a Classic and admits a win by either horse would mean the world to him and his staff at the Whitsbury Stables, near Fordingbridge.
On the eve of the big races, Journal Sport's Mike Turner and Sarah McQuillen followed Elsworth and his team as the horses were put through their paces as part of their final preparations. Chief photographer Roger Elliott was there to capture the action on the beautiful Whitsbury downs. See this week's Journal for full story and more pictures.
