FORMER council leader Tony Phillips has lost his position as vice chairman of the South West Regional Assembly.
Cllr Phillips (Ind) who was ousted from his position at West Wiltshire District Council in a coup last month, was replaced on the assembly by new cabinet leader Sarah Content.
The assembly represents five-million people from Wiltshire to Gloucestershire and aims to improve the economic, social and environmental viability of the region.
Cllr Philips said: "The problem is because I was vice-chairman we have lost a lot of influence.
"Sadly it has all become too political and as I don't fit the bill I am out of it."
Cllr Phillips was axed from the leadership by a coalition of Labour, Independent and Lib Dem councillors.
