PARENTS of Salt Way primary school children are being warned by Swindon Council not to be rash before a final decision is made on its closure.
Swindon Council wants to clarify some of the confusion surrounding the consultation about the possible closure of the school in Middleleaze, West Swindon, and the issues concerning admission to other schools.
A council spokesman said: "If a parent decides to transfer their child out of Salt Way at the moment or before a decision has been made about the closure of the school then they face limited options for admission at other schools.
"This would be the same for any parent in Swindon who decides to transfer their child during the academic year.
"If, after the consultation process has ended, a decision is made to close the school then the education department will work with the schools nearby to create extra spaces to accommodate children from Salt Way.
"This process cannot begin until a final decision has been made about Salt Way."
Parents were asked to state their preference for an alternative school only in the event that a decision is taken to close Salt Way. If parents have any concerns or would like to find out more information then they should contact the education department's admissions team on 01793 465769.
