I READ your story of the Queens Park. As a child I lived in Drove Road (where the bomb fell) and I knew the park well.
It was from Drove Road right through to the bottom of Victoria Road. It also had an entrance into York Road off Groundwell Road and there was a cottage just inside the gate.
I remember we children all cried when the gardener who lived in it was burnt to death when it caught fire.
I can't remember how old I was, around nine or ten but things like that stay with you for many years. It's many years now since I have been to the park but I'm sure it's still a lovely place.
As you can see I live quite far away now and I am severely disabled so find it difficult to travel anywhere.
Best wishes to all your readers.
