The former honorary surgeon to King George VI enjoyed his 100th birthday with family and pupils from his local primary school in Crudwell last month.
Retired Royal Navy surgeon, Hugh Cleave CBE, was given a surprise visit by the pupils, with headteacher Nicola Morris, who presented him with a birthday card from the school.
He now lives with his son Noel and daughter-in-law Rosemary at their home in Crudwell.
Mr Cleave has two children, five grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
