Bond girl Rosamund Pike brought a touch of glamour to Chippenham at the Redland Children’s Centre on Monday.
The actress, who became known for her role in the 007 film Die Another Day, spent the day at the centre in Brook Street to celebrate its success in transforming the lives of hundreds of families.
She met staff and families who use the Barnardo’s-run service.
The Barnardo’s ambassador, who is appearing at the Theatre Royal in Bath, said: “I passionately believe that all families deserve a positive and meaningful relationship with each other.
“Love and support is a basic human right.
“The Barnardo’s team in Chippenham deserves credit for everything that they have achieved so far, and I hope they will continue to make an impact for many years to come.”
Since it opened in 2006 the centre has registered more than 800 people for free support.
Barnardo’s children’s services manager Liz James said this was Miss Pike’s first visit to a South West service.
“Everyone has been looking forward to welcoming such a prominent and popular actress who has done so much to support our work,” she said.
“We are immensely proud of everything that we have achieved over the last few years and we hope her visit will encourage even more families to approach us for help.
“It will also remind people that we no longer run homes and orphanages, the last of which closed many years ago. Today, much of our work takes place out in the community.
Redland Children’s Centre and the adjacent nursery, also run by Barnardo’s, employ almost 30 people.
