Age Concern Wiltshire is expecting a pantastic turnout for its Pancake Races in Devizes Market Place on Tuesday.
It is the fourth year the races have been run, each year organised by Age Concern Wiltshire with the Rotary Club of Devizes.
This year the races have the added support of many local businesses and individuals, including teams from North Wessex Training, St Andrew’s Church and the Gazette and Herald.
The races kick off at 12.30pm with a free children’s race for under-12s.
The pancakes to be used in the race are being supplied by the Black Swan Hotel while Flamin’ Crepes, a local Devizes business, will also be selling pancakes from The Shambles from noon.
Following the children’s races, the fiercely competitive adult relay heats and mobility scooter race will get going. The event culminates with the grand final and presentation of prizes at 1.45pm.
This year there will also be extra stalls including pancake tossing and eating for everyone to get involved in.
A range of prizes will be presented, including a Challenge Salver, donated by Devizes Town Council for the winning adult team, and other prizes from Urban Rustics and Devizes Books.
There are also some strong contenders for the best fancy dress prize including a lemon and Donald Duck.
Liddy Davidson, director at Age Concern Wiltshire, said: “We are pleased to offer extra activities and pancakes on sale this year to make it a fun half-term activity.”
